Ten years of North House tradition will come to an end in February, at least temporarily, when Masters J. Woodland and Hanna M. Hastings depart for a semester in Japan.
The Hastings will be replaced by Professor of Biology Robert M. Woollacott, subject to the approval of Harvard's governing boards.
Woody Hastings, professor of biology, said he plans to lecture, visit labs, and meet with colleagues while in Japan. Hastings has been at Harvard for 20 years, 10 as master of North House.
Both Hastings have been working closely with Woollacott over this semester to insure a smooth transfer of power. Woollacott said he hopes to maintian the quality of life that already exists at North House.
"I hope that the students are as happy at the end of the year as they usually are," Woollacott said.
