At 2:35 p.m. yesterday, an unidentified man entered the Harvard Square branch of Fleet Bank, walked up to a teller and passed a note demanding money, Cambridge Police Department (CPD) spokesperson Frank T. Pasquarello said yesterday.

The CPD log shows that an unidentified, unarmed black male passed the teller a deposit slip with “give me all your money” written on it.

The teller managed to make the suspect wait as she notified the receptionist and manager of the situation, the report stated.

Pasquarello said the robber left the bank soon thereafter and has not yet been caught.

The CPD report notes that the teller may be able to identify the suspect.

Pasquarello said he could not comment on whether or not the robber left with any money.

A Fleet spokesperson also declined to comment on the incident.

Shortly after 2:35 p.m., six CPD cruisers and two police motorcycles were parked outside the bank.

By about 2:40 p.m., the Cambridge Identification Unit had arrived on the scene, at which time employees who had been tabling outside the bank were brought inside and the bank’s doors were locked.

Soon after, signs were placed outside the bank that read, “Closed: This office is temporarily closed. We are sorry for any inconvenience.”

Another sign outside the bank directed all clients to Fleet Bank’s Central Square location.
