LIVE BLOG: M. Hoops at Stanford

By Crimson Sports Staff, Crimson Staff Writer

Final score: 111-56.

0:23, second half: Lin just fouled out. My heart goes out to him. He'll get his chance for redemption versus Santa Barbara (Sat.) or Northwestern State (Sun.).

2:00, second half: Lin gets an assist of Fitzgerald, who draws a charge on the other end of the floor. 108-54.

3:21, second half; The B-team is on the floor, but Lin, still scoreless, just checked back in. Amaker's looking to get him on the board I imagine.

4:25, second half: Things you should know: Demuyakor is known as "AD". 106-51.

6:39, second half: Sophomore guard Ndu Okereke is on, that makes everyone who was dressed for the game. Stanford just got to 100 and the student section erupted. They were chanting, "We want tacos!" right before that. I think the Cardinal just became the local Jacoby Ellsbury.

8:08, second half: The yellow horses just won the Wells Fargo Stagecoach Race on the jumbotron. It's been that kind of night for the red team.

8:30, second half: You know who's not afraid of contact? Kyle Fitzgerald. Unfortunately, he's not a very good FT shooter. 95-42.

9:14, second half: The Cardinal's Landry Fields skies for a baseline dunk. Harris takes a bad shot, gets his own miss, and then puts it in. 92-41.

10:15, second half: The 11th and 12th men are about to check in: Sophomore guards Darryl Finkton and Alek Blankenau. 90-39.

11:20, second half: The spread on this game was 23. The over/under was 148.

11:37, second half: Harris hits another runner going to his left (where else?). Amaker took Lin, 0-for-6 from the field, aside as he came off the court for the media timeout. 86-36.

12:30, second half; Brad Unger, the injured Crimson captain, is wearing a very nice green blazer. Lin misfired on another jumper, but McGeary banked one in. 86-34.

14:47, second half: Meet the Harvard 10th man--6'7 freshman forward and Jersey Shore native Kyle Fitzgerald.

15:26, second half: Didn't take Stanford 25 minutes to get to 80 points.

15:30, second half: Hometown kid Lin and those who showed up to support him in green T-shirts that say "The Jeremy Lin Show" have to be disappointed. He just missed two threes and a fast-break lay-in. Someone behind me just shouted some words of encouragement: "Keep shooting, Jeremy!" Goods has hit two more treys. 79-32.

17:13, second half: Harris scores on a pretty little drive, Goods bags a three. Pusar on a scoop shot inside. 73-32.

18:16, second half: Last three Harvard possessions: Magnarelli nonchalantly stuffed by Lopez, and then two more turnovers on errant passes by Pusar. 70-28.

More from halftime: I lied. The corrected stat sheet has Harvard 10-of-21 from the free-throw line. Housman leads the squad with 10 points, Harris has eight. Finger and reserve point guard Drew Shiller lead the Cardinal with 13 apiece.

Halftime: The gory stats roundup: Harvard has made 10-of-20 free throws. It has 12 turnovers and is getting out-rebounded, 27-11. Stanford is 24-of-40 from the floor, including 7-of-11 from deep. To make matters worse, there was just a weird singing performance by a 12-year-old girl in a short black dress.

1:05, first half: Demuyakor misses two free throws, Miller gets painfully rejected, and Pusar throws away an outlet pass. Pretty much everything that can go wrong has, and, hey, the Crimson is only down by 35. 63-28.

2:19, first half: First impressions of the newcomers: McGeary can shoot the three, which has been a real weakness of Harvard teams in years past. Demuyakor (6'7) is an energy guy with a nice vert. Housman makes one of two from the line (gotta make those, Drew), Stanford drills an open three, and Harris makes a circus shot. 59-28.

3:27, first half: An off-color contribution from the student section, via whiteboard: "PUSAR (v.) To [unprintable]". Pusar scored on one of his trademark backdoor cuts, found by Harris. 54-23.

4:41, first half: Fast-break bucket by Stanford, Pusar three-ball. Backup center Prowitt gets two easy ones, but McGeary comes back with a trey. 46-23.

6:26, first half: Followed by a pitiful sequence: Easy Stanford make in the paint, Magnarelli miss inside, wide-open three for the Cardinal, and a chuck by Housman, iced with a loose-ball foul. 42-17.

7:21, first half: The best Harvard sequence of the game. Housman forces a 10-second violation then Harris scoops in a crazy shot, gets fouled, and makes. 35-17.

7:35, first half: Three-point play by Lopez--Harvard just has no answer for him. Can we get Cuswoth back from Estonia? McGeary hits a pair from the stripe. 35-14.

8:19, first half: Goaltending on Harris, traveling on Lin. Housman gets to the line again, hits both ends of a one-and-one. 32-12.

9:14, first half: Amaker keeps yelling, "Three quick ones!" from the bench. Does he mean points or awkward passes?

9:24, first half: Lopez hits a J over Magnarelli. Housman, playing off the ball with Carey running the point, nails a jumper. 30-9.

10:47, first half: Easy Cardinal basket, then Harris gets stuffed by Lopez. Magnarelli gets the Crimson's SECOND defensive rebound of the game.

11:50, first half: Harris draws another foul...and misses another free throw. Actually, misses em both. 1-for-4 on the night.

12:48, first half: Sophomore forward Doug Miller has been on and rookie guard T.J. Carey (of Long Beach, N.Y.) just made his collegiate debut. That's nine and counting who have seen the floor tonight for the Crimson. Short jumper by Housman. 26-7.

13:09, first half: Good ball pressure by Lin and then by Housman forces a steal. Housman takes it in and is fouled. Makes both. 21-5.

13:52, first half: Forgot to mention: An early basket by Stanford big man Taj Finger elicited cries of "You got Fingered!" from the student section.

15:11, first half: Five more Stanford points sandwiched around an obvious goaltending on the Harvard basket that wasn't whistled. Amaker got in the ref's ear when he came back down the floor. Eight points for junior guard Anthony Goods. 19-3.

16:36, first half: An offensive rebound and hoop by Harris answered by another Cardinal trifecta. Sophomore transfer Dan McGeary and freshman Adam Demuyakor make their first appearances for the Crimson. 14-3.

17:37, first half: The first timeout of the Amaker Era! Good thing, because Harvard is getting run out of the building. An Anthony Goods three-pointer from the corner followed by a steal of Harris and transition layup made it 11-1.

18:20, first half: Offensive rebound and basket by the Cardinal, a traveling call on Harris, and another big dunk by Lopez. Harvard has no answer for him inside. Andrew Pusar is fouled on a backdoor cut but misses both FTs.

19:31, first half: Monster putback dunk by Robin Lopez, whose twin brother Brook, the star of the team, is sitting tonight due to a suspension. Stanford gets the ball back on a Magnarelli offensive foul, Harris steals it, and is fouled. He coverts one of two.

Starting lineups: Big hand for local kid Jeremy Lin, starting at guard tonight. The rest of the starting five will be Housman, Pusar, Harris, and Magnarelli. For Stanford, the student section is announced as the 6th man.

One minute before tip-off: Coming at you live from Maples Pavilion in Palo Alto, Calif., where Harvard is about to kick off the Tommy Amaker Era by squaring off with No. 23 Stanford.
