Men's Ice Hockey
Back at Home in the Crimson Goal

With the return of star goaltender Kyle Richter—as well as the recent rise of up-and-coming junior Ryan Carroll—the Crimson appears to be in better shape at the start of this season than it was last year.

RICHTER SCALE
Junior Kyle Richter boasted a .935 save percentage and 2.19 goals-against average in 34 games during his sophomore season for Harvard. Back this season after a year away from Crimson ice and his teammates, Richter will have to fend off junior Ryan Carroll and senior John Riley to keep the starting job in the net.
KING LOUIS
Playing for the Omaha Lancers last year, freshman Louis Leblanc scored 28 goals and notched 31 assists in 60 games. The rookie looks to feature prominently in the Crimson attack.
Harvard Loses in Rivalry Matchup
Although the Harvard men’s hockey team (1-2, 1-2 ECAC, 1-1 Ivy) took a 3-1 lead in the first two periods against the Big Red (3-0, 3-0 ECAC, 2-0 Ivy), the Crimson yielded four goals in the final frame, ultimately succumbing to long-time rivals No. 5 Cornell, 6-3.
Crimson Gives Up Lead Against Colgate
But in the final frame, the Raiders surged back and Harvard men's hockey watched its advantage quickly disintegrate. Colgate (4-2-3, 2-0) notched four goals in the third period to capture a 5-4 victory.
No. 5 Cornell To Provide Early Test on Road
Facing two ECAC opponents this weekend, the Crimson men’s hockey team will attempt to replicate last week’s win over Dartmouth. Harvard (1-0, 1-0 ECAC) will face Colgate (2-2-3) tonight and archrival No. 5 Cornell (1-0) on Saturday. The two New York road contests will be the first games away from the Bright Hockey Center this season. Last year, the Crimson went 0-11-5 away from home. With this in mind, the players acknowledge the added challenge of attaining victories this weekend.
AROUND THE KILLORN
Racking up three points against ECAC foe Dartmouth in the second period alone, sophomore forward Alex Killorn provided some promising sparks on offense in the Crimson’s 5-3 season-opening victory last weekend. Killorn and the rest of the offense will face a daunting challenge on the road this weekend against perennial archrival No. 5 Cornell.
Defense Stands Strong in Harvard Season-Opening Win
In his return to the Crimson crease after a year-long leave of absence, junior Kyle Richter made 41 saves to anchor Harvard’s defensive efforts in the team’s season-opening 5-3 win over Dartmouth on Friday night at Thompson Arena.
Late Goal Ends Contest in 3-3 Draw
Oh, Canada. Facing off against McGill in a preseason exhibition game, the Harvard men’s hockey team battled to a 3-3 tie with the Canadian squad at Bright Hockey Center on Friday. Although the Crimson outshot McGill, 49-18, and had 13 powerplay chances—including a few minutes of 5-on-3 play—Harvard was unable to get the winning goal past McGill goaltender Hubert Morin.
