Active preparations are being made at the boat house for the opening of the present season. The little float has been brought down in front of the '83 and '84 quarters, and the bridge will be put up today. The large float is frozen in solid. The plank covering has been taken off, so as to give the ice a chance to thaw, and an attempt will probably be made next Saturday at high tide to float it around the front of the boat house.

The removal of the old boats gives much more room in the 'Varsity Boat Room, while the general appearance of the room is much improved. The old boats are now stored in the room above the '83 and '84 boat room. A new coil is being put into the boiler of the steam launch and it is expected that she will be ready for use as soon as she is needed.

The class barges have been revarnished and repainted; '85's, however, is unrigged at present and will not be ready for use for several days. The '85 crew have had their oars painted green and white, taking '82's old colors; '83 expect a new set of oars soon.

The new room for the upper class crews is now ready for occupation and is a great improvement over the old arrangement; the room is well heated by a stove placed in the center, the bath is in one corner while the lockers are arranged conveniently around the wall, making nearly as good quarters as the 'Varsity have.
