HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
At the open games given by the Institute of Technology Saturday afternoon, Harvard men won four firsts, three seconds, and one third in the six events they entered.
F. H. Bigelow '97 took second place in the open 35 yds. dash, losing first by a very narrow margin. In the novice 35 yards dash E. H. Smith 1900 won, and J. De K. Towner '98 was second; time, 4 2-5s. E. H. Clark L. S. won the 40 yds. high hurdles in the record breaking time of 5 3-5s., but as he knocked over two hurdles the record was not allowed. W. G. Morse '99 won the high jump, doing 5 ft. 11 1-4 in. The shot put was won by E. H. Clarke L. S. with a put of 37 ft. 6 in. A. B. Emmons '98 was second in the pole vault, doing 9 ft. 11 7-8 in., and R. H. Morrison '99 took third place in this event.
