HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
The final trial to select a team for the Princeton debate will be held at 7.30 this evening in New Lecture Hall. The subject will be "Resolved, That the free elective system is the best available plan for the undergraduate course of study." The affirmative will be defended by W. M. Shohl '06, A. Tulin 1L., and W. H. Davis '05. C. E. Burchenal 3L., I. I. Mattuck '05, and B. V. Kanaley 1L. will support the negative. Each man will speak 12 minutes and the rebuttal speeches will be 5 minutes in length: The three best speakers will form the final team. The judges will be: H. LeB. Sampson L.'04, S. R. Wrightington '97, R. H. Ewell 2L., M. Thelen sL., R. L. Lyman '03, Professor I. L. Winter '86, Professor G. P. Baker '87.
The best speaker of the series of trials will be awarded the Coolidge prize of $100.
