The work of the University hockey team yesterday was of the same mediocre order which characterized last week's practice, for the play was loose and the passing and shooting wild and erratic. The second team men supported each other readily and in covering and following-back were much quicker than the first. The skating of both teams was last and all worked hard. Newhall appeared still out of condition and found it hard to keep up with the fast going. Carpenter's showing at goal on the second was very good, as he turned aside cleverly many hard shots. The defense of the University team played with its usual steadiness and repeatedly prevented the second from breaking through.
The line-up was: Score-University team, 7; Second team, 4. Goals-Pell 3, Newhall 2, Rumsey 2, Briggs, Dole, Gardner, Morgan. Referee-A. Winsor '02. Timer-Donovan. Time-20-minute periods.
