CREWS IN STIFF WORK-OUTS

Captain Abeles Temporarily Out of Boat. Saltonstall Displaces Carver at Bow in Four.

Harvard Training Quarters, Red Top, Conn., June 9, 1913.--All the crews were given a long spin this morning, paddling at an easy gait down-stream for the first two miles and returning at a somewhat faster pace. Captain Abeles was out of the boat on account of a slight cold, but followed the crew in the launch. A change was made in the University four, Saltonstall taking Carver's place at bow, the latter going down to the second four.

In the afternoon the eights rowed down-stream below the Navy Yard, where a number of racing starts were tried with good results. In the paddle back to the quarters the University crew went well, while the Freshmen showed a very marked improvement.
