FAST AND HARD SCRIMMAGE

UNIVERSITY ROLLS UP THREE TOUCHDOWNS. MAHAN OUT FOR A TIME.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University football squad resumed hard scrimmaging yesterday afternoon in an hour-long game. The University team scored three touchdowns, one each by Bradlee, Sweetser and Whitney; and Captain Brickley dropped a pretty field-goal from the fifteen yard line.

All of the first string men were in togs with the exception of Mahan. He has not yet recovered from a leg injury received in the Springfield game, and from present indications he will be in no condition to play this Saturday against Washington and Jefferson. McKinlock took his place in the backfield, and with Bradlee and Brickley, this combination of heavy men used a closed attack against the scrubs, forming a powerful driving machine.

There was another shift in the tackle positions, D. P. Morgan replacing R. C. Curtis at left tackle. Elken and Bigelow, substitute tackles, were also given a trial with the University and showed up well. Bigelow is now used as much at tackle as at centre, owing to the rapid development of Wallace as a centre. Logan, Watson, Swigert, Willcox and Winsor were all used at quarter. Logan complained of an injury to his shoulder and retired early in the scrimmage.

The University in its original line-up, with the more important substitutions, was as follows: l.e., Coolidge; l.t., Morgan, Elken; l.g., Weston; c., Soucy; r.g., Pennock; r.t., Trumbull, Sweetzer; r.e., Hardwick; q.b., Logan, Watson; l.h.b., McKinlock; r.h.b., Bradlee, Whitney; f.b., Brickley, King.
