WINTER TRACK PRACTICE IN CAGE

Coach Powers Wants More Men for Field Event Competitions.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Not enough candidates for the broad jump and shot-put events on the University and Freshman track teams reported in the cage yesterday to hold the first contests of the winter competition in those events.

While this work is voluntary to a degree it is essential that all candidates should report with comparative regularity. A series of competitions under the supervision of Coach Powers will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the high jump, pole-vault, broad jump and shot-put. At the end of the season prizes will be awarded to the three men holding the highest averages in each event and in addition, candidates will be given the opportunity to enter several indoor meets throughout the winter, thus affording them an excellent chance to obtain experience. Coach Powers wishes candidates for the high jump and pole-vault to report for the next competitions in those events, to be held Tuesday in the Baseball Cage between 3.30 and 4 o'clock.
