The University hockey team will meet the Cornell seven in the Arena tonight at 8.15 o'clock. Cornell has been greatly hampered by lack of ice but has nevertheless managed to build up a strong team. On December 29, when they had had but little practice Cornell was defeated by Princeton, 4 to 1, but since then the team has improved steadily.
The University seven is at present playing better hockey than at any time before this year. The stick-work must still improve, but the team-work of the men is gradually becoming better and the passing and shooting very much more accurate than last week. Townsend and Phillips as forwards, are aggressive and fast and with Captain Claflin, Morgan, and Wylde as defense, the University has a strong team. Captain Kent and Hill are the stars of the Cornell team, Hill's defensive work against Princeton having been one of the features of the game.
The University held the B. A. A. to a 0 to 0 tie in a brisk ten-minute scrimmage at the Arena yesterday afternoon. Clean, hard playing with more team-work than the University has hitherto shown characterized the contest. The second string men were then put in for twenty minutes more, the final score being 4 to 3 in favor of the B. A. A.
The University and Cornell will probably line up as follows tonight:
Tickets for tonight's game may be obtained at Leavitt & Peirce's at $1 each.
