FOOTBALL OVERCONFIDENCE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Football is in a bad way when at the spring meeting not enough men report to make up two full teams. Yet this is just what happened Friday. The meeting called to start work for the 1915 season with vigor and enthusiasm, was a fizzle. A handful of men, mostly Freshmen, attended.

Such a condition is little short of shameful; it betokens indifference, laziness and absurd overconfidence. Harvard can't win games on its reputation. The eleven next fall can't rely upon the record of Harvard teams of past years to overawe and subdue its opponents. Beating Yale is not a habit by any means. The debacle in the Bowl has not been forgotten, and unless the men in College wish to see it avenged on the University eleven next fall, they must get busy now building up a strong team.

Spring practice begins today at 4 o'clock. Every man who is "out" for football should be on hand.
