"SERVIR" IS TO BE PRODUCED

CERCLE FRANCAIS TO GIVE WAR DRAMA BY HENRI LAVEDAN IN BOSTON.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Cercle Francais for the first time in its history will undertake a spring production, which will be presented in Boston probably on May 8 or 9. The piece selected is a two-act war drama, "Servir," by Henri Lavedan. The play was first produced in Paris in 1913 at the Theatre Sarah Bernhardt, and, with the foremost of modern French actors, M. Guitry, in the chief role, scored a great success. It was written during the trouble between France and Morocco, and shows the struggle between a militarist father of the old school and a pacifist son with modern ideas. Although the play was written a full year before the outbreak of the present European war, the author foresaw the trend of events, and the play ends with the declaration of war between France and Germany. It will be followed by a short one-act play of a less serious nature.

M. Henri Lavedan is one of the leading French dramatists, and is also known as a journalist and short story writer. He has written more than 30 plays, the one best known in this country being "La Duel," acted by Otis Skinner. He is an officer of the Legion of Honor and a member of the French Academy.

There will be a meeting of all candidates both for the acting and for stage managing ends in Grays 17 on Thursday evening at 7.15 o'clock. All men unable to come at that time should report as soon as possible to H. Scholle '18, Dunster 26.
