SECOND HOCKEY PRACTICE HELD

Work Characterized by Fast and Often Crude Playing.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Freshman hockey practice was held for the second time yesterday afternoon on the Charlesbank rink. For the first time the entire squad reported at the same time, and practice was not held in two sections as yesterday. Several new candidates reported for the workout.

Practice was somewhat similar to that of the first day. All the forwards were divided into several lines and were sent down the ice against sets of defence men. Later only two men went down together and were checked by a single man on the defence.

At the conclusion of this work a scrimmage was started between two hastily organized teams. It lasted about half an hour and during that time many substitutions were made, and every man had a chance to participate. The play was fast for the second day of practice, although the individual work of some of the candidates was crude. Two main points of criticism were the tendency of the forwards to be drawn out of position and the inaccurate shooting.
