THE "OPEN MIND."

William James advised keeping an "open mind" to the evidence of Spiritism. The proofs of a connection with the spirit world are, therefore, to be acclaimed or discounted by clear cold reason. But man's short span of life prevents his waiting till all the evidence is in. James also advocated the Will to Believe on the side of Faith. It is thus clear that he differentiated between Spiritism as a science and Faith as religion.

Psychic Research has little in common with religion. Science will find additional proof of telepathy if Psychic Research gathers more evidence. Science excludes spirit help in examining calls on the subconscious mind by other mind vibrations. All the criteria of dispassionate, inductive science are seen in Spiritism. Let Psychic Research stand to view in the clear, cold reason advocated by William James. Our religion is apart from it. We cannot drink our communion wine from a test tube.
