Baron Romano Avezzano, Italian Ambassador to the United States, paid an informal visit to Harvard yesterday.

At a few minutes before 1 o'clock the Ambassador, accompanied by his secretary, Geisser Celesia di Vegliasco, by the Italian Consul at Boston, Gustavo di Rosa, and by a group of members of the Boston Chamber of Commerce and prominent Bostonians of Italian origin, arrived at University Hall. In the absence of President Lowell, who was out of town, the party was welcomed by Dean L.B.R. Briggs '75 of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Dean Charles H. Haskins of the Graduate School, and Francis W. Hunnewell '02, secretary to the Corporation.

The party then went to the Widener Library, which was shown to them by Professor Archibald C. Coolidge '87, director of the Library. After a brief inspection, the Ambassador and his friends left Harvard for the Country Club in Brookline for luncheon.

The Ambassador is staying in Boston as the guest of the Boston Chamber of Commerce.
