VERMONT'S MOUNDSMAN TOO MUCH FOR CRIMSON

OPPONENTS HELD TO 4 HITS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Kibble, moundsman for the Vermont team, was too much for the University nine yesterday afternoon, twirling his team to a 2-1 victory. He held the Crimson to four hits, walked only two men and struck out ten. And every time that the University threatened to score, except once, he tightened up and pulled his team out of the hole.

Goode, pitching for the Crimson, was almost as effective as the Vermonter, allowing also only four hits and retiring six men, but his batters could not reach Kibbe when they had men on bases.

The University's lone tally came in the seventh inning. Blair lined out a triple over the left fielder's head and scored when Conlin of Vermont juggled Conlon's drive.

The Crimson came near scoring in the second inning, when, after Hallowell had been walked, Frothingham lined a single out to right field, and Conlon reached first as Kibbe threw too late to third, thus filling the bases. Blair, next up, attempted a squeeze play, bunted to Kibbs, but Hallowell was thrown out at the plate.

The University played a sterling game in the field, Conlon starring in particular. In the outfield Hallowell made one spectacular play when he ran in from right field to the bleachers and speared a foul.

Kibbe Responsible for Score

Not only did Kibbe pitch his team to victory, but he was also responsible for their two runs. In the fourth frame, with two down, he walked to first, stole second, slipped into home when Blair recovered a wild pitch by Goode too slowly. Then in the sixth Conlin singled to center field, stole second and Kibbe came through with a hard drive to left field and Conlin went to third. And when Lincoln licked a grounder by Burns, Conlin raced home with the second and last run.
