In its first League game of the season, the University soccer team was defeated 3-2 by the more experienced and better-playing University of Pennsylvania eleven on Soldiers Field Saturday afternoon.
A fast kick by Wilder, the Pennsylvania inside left, which barely crossed the University line, put the visitors in the lead near the middle of the first period. The score was tied a few minutes after the opening of the second period, when R. W. Heizer '23 successfully passed the visitors' guard. The deadlock was short lived, however, as a penalty on a Crimson Defender gave Blair, the Blue and Red center a free kick at the University goal, which proved in the end the deciding score of the game.
The summary: Score, Pennsylvania 3, Harvard 2. Goals, Blair 2, Pallo, Heizer, Wilder, Referee, Howe, Boston Referees Association. Time, two 45-minute periods.
