Yesterday's work-out for the two University crews took the form of a paddle down to the Harvard Bridge; the shells being accompanied over the distance by Dr. Howe, Coach Muller, Mr. John Richardson '08, Chairman of the Rowing Committee, and Mr. W. E. Ladd, also a member of the committee.
A new seating order was tried out, S. N. Brown '24 being put at stroke in the first boat, B. R. Wiesman '25 in the same position on the second, while Walter Amory '24, who has been setting the pace on Crew A, was shifted to number 2 on Crew B. The crews are now seated as follows:
Crew A.--Bow, B. F. Rice-Bassett '26; 2, H. S. Morgan '23; 3, B. McK, Henry '24; 4, A. H. Ladd Jr. '23; 5, R. C. Storey Jr. '24; 6, Parker Hamilton '24; 7, H. H. Fuller Jr. '23; stroke, S. N. Brown '24; cox., S. C. Badger '23.
Crew B.--Bow, Garrison Norton '23; 2, Walter Amory '24; 3, C. H. Hollister Jr. '24; 4, J. D. Jameson '24; 5, N. C. Webb '23; 6, Francis Fiske '23; 7, S. B. Kelley '25; stroke, B. R. Wiesman '25; cox., B. H. Burnham '24.
Yesterday afternoon also marked the various class crew races on the basis of which Coach E. J. Brown '96 will base, to a considerable extent, the re-grading of his crews on Monday.
The Senior class crew, stroked by E. S. Matthews '23, defeated Sophomore A by a decisive margin over the mile and seven-eighths course, Junior A trailing the latter shell by a length. In the race for the seconds, Sophomore B carried off the honors from the corresponding Senior and Junior combinations.
Coach Bert Haines also had his Freshmen out for a short brush in the Basin, Crew B winning by a length and a quarter from the first yearling boat over a mile course. These crews are not, however, accurately graded as yet, and several shifts will probably be made in the near future.
