FRESHMEN ARE ERRATIC BUT WIN FROM DEAN ACADEMY 18 TO 13

COMBS STARS BY BLOCKING TWO OF OPPONENTS' KICKS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Playing generally good, though somewhat erratic, football, the Freshman team scored an 18 to 13 win over the strong Dean Academy eleven Saturday.

The first period was without incident, each side devoting its efforts to finding the weak spots of the other. Early in the second quarter, aided by some pretty kicking by Reed, the yearlings advanced to the Dean 27-yard line. A short pas, Stafford to McGlone, enabled the latter to score the first touchdown of the game. An attempt at goal failed.

Combs Blocks Dean Kick

Dean then kicked off, and Reed punted 50 yeards, the ball going out of bounds on the Academy's 10-yard line. An attempted kick by the visitors was blocked by Combs, who recovered the ball and scored the second touchdown for the Freshmen. McGlone kicked the goal.

Receiving the kickoff. Dean again attempted to punt, but again was blocked by Combs. He did not recover the ball, however, Jackson of the Academy falling on it for a safety.

Visitors' Aerial Attack Brings Tally

Dean then uncovered an aerial attack and advanced to the Crimson 12-yard line. A forward, Jackson to Captain Hannaford, resulted in a touchdown for the visitors. Jackson kicked the goal.

The second half was featured by a field goal from the 42-yard line by McGlone, acting captain of the 1926 eleven. Near the end of the last period, Dean advanced to the Freshman four-yard line, where they ware held for downs. Reed attempted a punt out of danger, but fumbled, and O'Malley, recovering the ball, carried it across the line for Dean's final score.
