CREW A IMPRESSIVE IN FOUR-MILE SPIN

Final Work-Out on Home Waters at 10 o'Clock Today--Initial Row on Thames Scheduled for Monday Morning

Swinging over the four-mile course in its first long trial of the year yesterday afternoon, the University crew more than fulfilled expectations by negotiating the distance in the time of 22 minutes 55 seconds.

A large delegation from the Rowing Committee followed the shell and Dr. Howe expressed himself as well pleased with the work-out. Although rowing alone, Crew A, starting at the Cambridge Boat Club, kept a high beat throughout the early stretches of the course, and by dint of a well-timed spurt near the finish went over the line in good form with a time record which is all the more encouraging in view of the fact that it is the initial spin over a four-mile stretch.

The final practice before the Red Top trip will be held this morning when Dr. Howe expects to have his four crews out for a last row on home waters. Tomorrow noon will see the departure of the Crimson oarsmen, the entire squad being scheduled to entrain for New London at 1.05 o'clock. The first work-outs on the Thames will be staged on Monday.
