The most important diamond struggle scheduled for this afternoon, in the eyes of college baseball enthusiasts and especially Crimson followers, will take place at Princeton where the Bulldog and the Tiger will meet in the second game of their series. If Princeton comes out of top, it will insure at leat a tie for first place for the University, since the Orange and Black has one victory over the Blue already to its credit, although it has dropped the series to the University.
If predictions run true, the game should resolve itself into a pitchers duel, as did the first contest, between two of the most formidable college twirlers of the East. Pond, twice conqueror of the University last year, will attempt to avenge the 1 to 0 defeat at the hands of Caldwell, the Tiger ace. Though defeated, Pond outpitched Caldwell in their first meeting and Eli adherents bank upon him heavily today.
On the other hand, Caldwell's superior support in the field is expected to discount any superiority that Pond may have in the box. The Eli infield has been anything but error-proof and Coach Wood has had some difficulty in finding a satisfactory mid-diamond pair. If the Princeton nine displays no better baseball than it did against Harvard, the decision should go to the Blue. If Caldwell, however, can pitch as he did against Holy Cross and Dartmouth the result may be reversed. Harvard followers await the outcome with interest.
