Swimming has replaced squash racquets as the most popular winter sport, according to figures given out yesterday at the office of Daniel J. Kelly, Assistant Director of Physical Education.
The number of men who reported for squash this year has slumped from 160 to 147, in contrast to 230 for the winter season two years ago. There were 106 men who signed up for swimming in 1923, 123 last year, and 174 this winter. Out of this number, 62 are unable to swim, while the other 112 are taking swimming merely for recreation.
