Nicolas Slonimsky to Conduct Lowell and Brattle Hall Concerts

The Pierian Sodality yesterday announced two concerts to be given under its new director, Nicolas Slonimsky, the first taking place in Lowell on Sunday, and the second in Brattle Hall. Cambridge, on December 14.

Two concerts have already been presented by the orchestra in Boston, but the Lowell expedition will be the first trip of the season for the musicians. The performance in Brattle Hall is an annual event and will be followed by dancing, the music being supplied by the Harvard Troubadours, made up of members of the Sodality.

Mr. Slommsky, the new conductor o the Orchestra, studied at St. Petersburg Conservatory. During the Russian Revolution he went to France where he continued his tudies. There he met Serge Koussevitsky, now conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and through his agency came to this country to teach in the Eastman School of Music at Rochester, New York. At present be is conducting the Boston Chamber Orchestra and accompanying visiting artists on the piano.

The program announced for the Lowell concerts, which the Brattle Hall performance will closely approximate, includes: Triumph March  Beethoven Pincal's Care  Mendelsohn Symphony  Shubert Egmont Overture  Beethoven Selections from "Hit the Deck"  Youmans Russian Lullaby  Berlin
