HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
After a series of tryouts held in New Lecture Hall, the final selection of the debaters who will represent the University in the first of the intercollegiate triangular debates was made last night by E. M. Rowe 1L, debating coach. S. M. Silverman '30, and Norman Winer '29 were chosen to represent the affirmative team, with C. C. Alpern '28 and A. L. Raffa ocC, as the alternates. Negative speakers are Saul Rosenzweig '29 and Robert Weaver '29, and their alternates are R. C. Courtney '29, and L. T. Grimm '29.
The first of the series of the intercollegiate League debates will be held Saturday night at 8.15 o'clock in Paine Music Hall, when the affirmative team will debate the negative team of Wesleyan College on the question. "Resolved, That all nations abandon extra territorial rights in China." The University negative team will journey to Providence to debate the affirmative team of Brown University on the same subject.
