LIBRARY DRAWS MORAL FROM CONVICTION OF BOOK THIEF

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In view of the fact that Joel Williams, member of a book ring which stole over 2500 volumes from the College Library, has been convicted and sentenced, officials of the library have determined to put in each of the recovered books the following plate: "This book was stolen from the Harvard College Library. It was later recovered. The thief was sentenced to two years at hard labor."

In reference to this book plate, library officials stated: "We make no comments, as none are needed." All the volumes in question had to be kept under lock and key until the case had been decided.
