HUTCHINS DENIES OFFER TO BECOME PRESIDENT OF YALE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Robert Maynard Hutchins, president of the University of Chicago, again denied the rumor which was recently published in the Daily Maroon, the undergraduate publication, that he was being considered for the presidency of Yale University.

The article pointed out that President Angell has reached the retirement age, and that Hutchins, who is 37 and a Yale graduate, "may soon be asked" to succeed him.

"I have heard nothing of such an intention by Yale, and I can't get excited over a rumor carried by a student newspaper," said Hutchins.

He was Dean of the Yale Law School in 1928-29, and then became President of the University of Chicago, where he has inaugurated several revolutionary changes in the system of education, making it possible to complete a four year course in as little as 15 months, as has been done.
