HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
To the Editor of the CRIMSON:
Mr. Lampert's letter has apparently stirred up a nest of troubled consciences including that of his roommate, Mr. Nassau. The latter brazenly attempts to dismiss the incident as a "prank," but he forgets that the following facts have been submitted to the University authorities: (1) That Lampert was beaten up, (2) That one of the attackers had never met Lampert, (2) That both were members of the YCL, (4) That Lampert had been threatened with physical violence by members of the YCL during the last three months for his political oppositions to them.
The YCL, is presumably opposed to "acts of individual violence." Unfortunately, it is not the YCL but their members that commit such acts. If the hypocritical statements of the Stalinists are to be given even superficial credence, then it the YCL itself condemn the prpetrators of the cowardly attack! Sidney William Benson 2G.
