'50 Five Surges Over Tufts Rally 44 to 41

Playing patently uninspired ball, the Yardling quintet eked out the Tufts Jayvees 44 to 41 last night on the Indoor Athletic Building court prior to the Varsity contest.

Led by forward James Travis, who scored 27 markers, Tufts rallied in the final half to tie the score 40 to 40 with two minutes left. Buckets by Captain John Rockwell and Chuck Brynsteson pulled the game out of the fire for the victors.

Sloppy passing, poor dribbling, and occasional loafing marked the Freshmen's playing and only the fight shown by two second-stringers, Jim Ham and Cliff Crosby, prevented them from losing.

Coach Warren Berg '44 stated that the quintet has failed completely in the last two encounters to live up to the expectations that their opening win against Tech suggested.
