B. U. Trounces Crimson, 10-6, for Third Win

Three Pitchers Unable to Halt Terrier Onslaught as Team Outhits Visitors, Walks 19

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With the aid of 19 passes and four errors, the Boston University Terriers took the Varsity nine into camp for the third time this summer yesterday afternoon to the tune of 10 to 6.

As in the first summer meeting of the two squads, the Crimson outhit the Terriers 7 to 6, but the free tickets issued freely by the Varsity moundsmen gave the Terriers an easy win.

Neal Starts On Mound

Herbie Neal, who has played nearly every position for Coach Adolph Samborski's summer squad, started yesterday's tilt; but was shuttled over to third base in the second after he had issued four consecutive passes. Vince Moravec replaced him and squelched the rally by striking out Mario Insant and causing Chuch Espanet to fly to center.

Although yesterday's contest with Boston University ended the regularly scheduled summer season for the Crimson nine, Coach Samborski announced that the Varsity will play, another contest with the Squantum Naval Air Base nine at Soldiers Field tomorrow afternoon. Harvard has beaten the sallors twice this summer.

The Crimson scoring department pushed two runs across in the third and four in the sixth, but it left eight men on bases during the course of the abbreviated six-inning contest.

Coach Samborski said that if the Crimson moundsmen had had better control, the result of yesterday's game would have been a different story. Six of the Boston U. runs were scored by men who were put on base by walks and three of the B. U. runs were forced across by walks with the bases filled.

Sixth inning Rally Falls

The Crimson's final bid to break the B. U. jinx was in the sixth inning. Bob Feloney poked a hard line drive to the Terrier second sacker after Bill Weeks had walked. Crawford Hubbell walked, and then Bill Hamlen laced out a scorching double along the third base foul line scoring Weeks.

Bob Peterson, pinch-hitting for Seymour Croft, hit a slow roller to third, but Bill "Neck" Tighe threw the ball away allowing Hubbell to score. Bill Harford singled driving in Hamlen from third, and sending Peterson to third.

Dave Farrell grounded out, third to first, scoring Peterson. Neal walked putting men on first and second. Florentino kept the rally going with a scratch hit loading the bases. But Johhny Harper, the B.U. twirler, fanned Weeks, ending the inning and the game with the Terriers still out in front 10 to 6.
