2nd Highest Civilian Medal Won by University Scientists

The nation's second highest civilian medal, the Certificate of Merit, was awarded to 14 Faculty members yesterday.

The awards, made by Rear Admiral Morton Deyo and Major General Frank Keating, cited the professors, most of whom were physicists and chemists, for their valuable services to the United States during the-past war."

Receiving the medal were: Professors Kenneth T. Bainbridge, Eric G. Ball, Arlie V. Bock, Gordon M. Fair, Louis F. Fieser, Arthur B. Lamb, L. Don Leet, Stanley S. Stevens, and J. C. Street; Associate Professors Edward M. Rurcell, and Fred L. Whipple; former Associate Professor Norman F. Ramsey; Research Fellow John A. Pierce; and Research Associate John G. Gibson 2D.
