Robert Tyre Jones Jr. '24, better known as Bobby, set a standard for Harvard golfers which has never since been equalled. No one is making any pretenses that this year's Yardling links squad is the best since the days of the Atlanta wonder, but Coach Don Peddle frankly admits it tops any in the last five years. Unbeaten sin six starts, the Freshmen take on Yale tomorrow.

Top man in this well-balanced squad is Tyke Wilcox, a steady, cool golfer with more experience in match play than any Yardling in recent years, Willcox, a deadly man with his short irons and putter, is consistently in the low seventies, and seems a sure bet fore the '43 Varsity.

Hubbell Number Two

The intricate system under which a golf team is arranged places Jim Hubbell in the number two slots. Hubbell, captain of the '45 swimming team, is a steady golfer with good potentialities, but he cannot be rated as the second best player.

That ranking should go to Captain Foster Boardman, playing at number three. Equipped with the best swing of anyone on the squad, Boardman has had a lot of experience, plays his irons well, and has shown steady improvement.
