Jim's Place will remain in its present Dunster Street location for at least 15 years. Late in June Cronin's will be expanded to include 77 and 79 Mt. Auburn Street, which is now occupied by the government-subsidized Pediatric Center.
Last spring there were persistent rumors that Harvard planned to construct the new Medical Research Center on the Dunster Street site when the current lease expired, but last night Jim Cronin, owner of the beer emporium, announced that a 15 year lease had been signed.
Long range plans call for the acquisition of the Pediatric offices in June of 1950. The space would be converted into a dining hall and the wall separating the building from the present Jim's Place would be opened.
With the erection of University buildings on Dunster Street delayed for at least 15 years, Cronin's has set aside its attempts to purchase a suitable site for a new plant.
