A superior Brown junior varsity football team handed the Harvard jayvees their second defeat of the season yesterday on Brown Field before a holiday crowed of 2000. The score was 27 to 6.
Brown's Carl Leone put on a virtual one-man show, passing for all touchdowns and accounting for three conversions, one with his toe and two via the aerial route.
The visitors' touchdown came in the third quarter, when fullback Tommy Ossman made a one-handed interception of a Leone pass and dashed 55 yards to score. George Emmons' place-kick was-wide.
Bruins Score Early
The Bruins' got their first touchdown after two minutes of play on a 25-yard pass from Leone to Andy Roth. Leone threw to Whitey Alexander in the left flat for the extra point. An interception set up another Brown tally in the second period with Leone passing to Tom Kelleher in the end zone and then hitting Hardy Burgin for another extra point.
Brown's two third quarter touchdowns came on a Leone-Kelleher pass play that covered 50 yards and a heave to Jim Smith which traversed 27 yards. Leone tried to place-kick both conversions, but one was blocked.
Ossman played well for the Crimson, breaking up several Brown passing threats. The longest run of the day came when Leone gathered in a Harvard punt and ran 75 yards before being brought down from behind on the six yard line.
