Adams Seeks Soft Shoe Man

The part of Harry, the hoofer in Saroyan's "The Time of Your Life," was played on Broadway by Gene Kelly. Paul Draper took the role in the movie version. Frank Rettenberg '52, cast as Harry for the Adams House Christmas play production, is having a hard time following in their footsteps.

Edmond A. Levy '51, director of the play, has discovered that his star's dance repertoire is limited to the foxtrot and the waltz. Kathi Osterman, Vassar '53, shown above with Rettenberg, says his dancing, "if not light," is "certainly fantastic."

Director Levy is now conducting a frantic search for a "retired soft-shoe artist out to make a fast buck" to teach Rettenberg a passable routine, He says that urchin street-dancers, "if they have a flair," might be considered as a last resort.
