MTA Collision Hurts 7 Near Harvard Square

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Seven people suffered minor injuries at 8:15 a.m. yesterday when two MTA surface cars collided at the north entrance to the Harvard Square underground station during the morning rush hour.

The cars, one inbound from Arlington Heights and the other bound for Watertown, hit as they entered the Littauer underpass and shook up their capacity loads. Injuries included a wrenched back and minor cuts and bruises.

MTA authorities were unable last night to explain the cause of the accident, commenting that it could have been other a mechanical defect or merely misjudgment on the part of one of the drivers. "These things happen once in a while," one official said, "but not too often."

No Harvard men were involved in the accident.
