China's Tsiang to Discuss Formosa Question Tonight

Tingfu F. Tsiang, Chief Chinese Delegate to the United Nations, will speak on "Formosa and the Peace and Freedom of Asia," at 8 p.m. tonight in Paine Hall. William Y. Elliott, Leroy B. Williams Professor of History and Political Science, will introduce Tsiang. The talk is under the auspices of the Harvard U.N. Council.

Tsiang rose to his present position of China's Permanent Representative to the U.N. from his election as Chairman of the U.N. Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East in June, 1947. He represented China on the Security Council and in the U.N. General Assembly during 1947 and 1948.

Prior to his 1935 entrance to public life, Dr. Tsiang was head of the History Department of Peiping's National Tsinghua University.

Although Dr. Tsiang was born and received his early education in China, he came to the U.S. in 1912 to study.
