Winthrop thwarted Dunster's hopes for a first place tie in B League basketball with a 27 to 26 win last night. The Funsters dropped to third place behind Kirkland and Leverett.
Winthrop led at the half 11 to 8, and kept ahead easily until the last two minutes of play when they froze the ball. It was the Puritans' sixth straight win.
In its last game of the season, Dunster's A basketball team topped Winthrop, 47 to 41. The game was close until its last minutes when the Funsters shot ahead with three quick baskets.
Dave Warden sparked the Dunster team with his accurate shooting and smooth ball handling. Dyke Hyde scored 20 points for last place Winthrop.
Yesterday's games ended the spring Inter-House basketball season. Standings in A League remain unchanged from the day before.
