Skiers Trail in National Intercollegiate Meet

The Crimson skiers were in last place yesterday after the first day of competition in the National Intercollegiate Ski Championships. In the downhill race the varsity ski team posted a score of 319.10 for tenth place.

John Houser was the first Crimson skier to come in as he took 18th position in 2 minutes, 28.3 seconds. Gordon Abbott was 39th, Jim Weaver 41st, Bill Wasserman 45th, and John Hart 50th.

Dartmouth, the only other Eastern entry in the meet, took first place with a score of 378.21. Indian Colin Stewart won the 2,970 yard race in two minutes, 9.5 seconds. Dartmouth skiers also won second and sixth place to dominate the field.

The downhill race, dropping vertically 1900 feet from a start at 12,500, was held in a snowstorm. The slalom is scheduled for today, and the jump and cross-country tomorrow.
