M.I.T. Annexes Owen Dinghy Sailing Award

M.I.T.'s undefeated sailors beat the Crimson dingly men by 14 points Sunday to win the tenth annual New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association meet, the "Ivy" League championship, on the Charles. By winning, the Engineers copped the George Owens Trophy, and swept their third major New England sailing event of the year.

Pete Putnam was the Crimson's high scorer, taking 51 points in Division A, while teammate Frank Scully tallied 47 points in Division B. M.I.T. had a total of 112 points, Yale tied the Crimson for second with 98, and Princeton had 85; Brown, 75; Dartmouth, 55, Williams, 44; and Cornell, 37. Bob Monetti of Yale won the A Division title with 56 points, and Tech's Bob Smith was B Division champ with 61 points.

Previously, the Engineers had won the Coast Guard Bowl for the New England Championship, and the Boston Dinghy Challenge Cup.
