Baseball Team Plays BC; Godin Seeks First Victory

The varsity baseball team will get its last chance to win a "city series" game this afternoon when it plays Boston College at 3:45 p.m. on Soldiers Field. In the first meeting of the teams, at B.C.'s Alumni Field, the Eagles won, 7 to 6.

Since the Patriot's Day contest, B.C. has played only two games. Coach John Temple's nine defeated Rhode Island State, 7 to 6, the day after the Crimson contest, and beat Boston University yesterday, 5 to 1.

The Crimson record now stands at one win and three losses, including a 5 to 4 victory over Holy Cross and defeats by B.U. and Dartmouth.

Stuffy McInnis has announced that Ira Godin will start this afternoon. Godin was the losing pitcher in the first B.C. game and has also lost to B.U. He will oppose Gerry Levinson, the right-hander who beat him in their last meeting.

There will be no other lineup changes for the Crimson. McInnis said last night that he was satisfied with the way the team had been improving, but a few tough breaks had cost a couple of close ball games. Cliff Crosby and Hal Moffle switched places in the batting order for the Dartmouth game and Crosby had a perfect day with two walks, a single, and a home run.

Temple has juggled the Crusader lineup, putting Ed Walsh in center field to replace Al Collins, and co-captain Ed Clancy on third base. Clancy joined the team this week after recovering from a football injury. The middle of the lineup will remain the same, with Harrington, Fitzgibbons, and Fitzgerald hitting third, fourth, and fifth.

In the first encounter between these two teams the Crimson outhit their opponents 13 to five.
