Dr. R. A. Davis, the Cook Island surgeon who sailed 10,000 miles across the Pacific to enter the School of Public Health, will make his first public appearance at the College tonight.
Davis will speak at 8:30 p.m. in the Dunster House Dining Hall, and will illustrate his talk with color slides taken during the journey.
In order to test the validity of the Kon-Tiki theory, Davis left Wellington, New Zealand, last June in a 48-foot ketch, with a crew of two besides his wife and two children. The five month trip carried the group through the wild South Pacific winter and the worst gale to hit New Zealand waters in the last 30 years, reaching here December 2.
Room permissions will be extended until 8 p.m., and guests are welcome after dinner.
