Whatmough Returns; Praises Paris Council

Joshua Whatmough, professor of Comparative Philology who recently returned from a four day meeting of the International Council for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies in Paris, stated Saturday that definite progress had been made in coordinating the work of the 12 separate groups which compose the Council.

The International Council aims to create the conditions for world peace through the spread of education throughout the world. Whatmough, a member of the Permanent International Committee of Linguists, is currently writing a non-technical book on language to aid the organization. He feels that the Orient and the Occident can be linked closer together through the effective work of his committee.

He added, though, that these separate groups would have to cooperate with each other if the ICPHS were to be successful. The ICPHS is a sub-committee of the United Nations Education, Social and Cultural Organization.
