Failure of a ninth inning rally to materialize cost the freshman baseball "B" team a 7 to 6 defeat against Belmont Hill School yesterday. The Yardlings had runners on first and third with only one out, when an attempted bunt turned into a game-ending double play. Coach Adolph Samborski's team will get little rest, as the whole squad goes to Andover for a game this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
The Yardlings got behind at the beginning, and were never quite able to pull even. Hank Hamell, who relieved starter Ross Shepherd, led the attack with three hits, while Frank White and Carl Hathaway each collected two.
Andy Ward will probably get the starting assignment at Andover, with Samborski starting his usual lineup of Frank Nashigian, second base; Ted Cooney, left field; Paul Murphy, shortstop; Bill Chauncey, centerfield; Joe Conzelman, third base; George MacDonald, catcher; Hank Pildner, right field; "Gar" Cranney, first base; and Ward.
