Jordan Plans to Let Football Team Go All Out Against Maroon

Springfield's football team will meet a full-scale Crimson offense Saturday, Coach Lloyd Jordan promised yesterday. Whereas Jordan restricted his attack to three or four basic plays in last year's 21 to 13 victory over the Maroon, he will not restrain the Crimson this time.

"We're going all out," Jordan said. The Crimson's offense will not be polished, he added, but the team will be allowed to utilize its full repertoire, as the occasion demands.

Last year, Jordan said, he wanted to "save" some plays for use in the Columbia game the following week. As a result, at some moments against Springfield, the Crimson was forced to run off plays which were not suitable for those specific tactical situations.

Depending on his squad's physical shape--guard Eli Manos is still an uncertain starter and defensive end Bill Weber is out with a broken hand--Jordan may have to play inexperienced sophomores.

"If our veterans can go," he said, "we won't hold anything back."

Yesterday was Defense Day in the practice enclosure. Norm Shepard's J.V.'s came over to test the varsity with passing (and some running) plays from Springfield formations.

The present "A" defense lines up with Frank Yaffe and Harvey Popell at ends, Captain John Nichols and Nick Culolias at tackles, George Yazejian and Tim Anderson at guards. John Culver and Buddy Lemay are linebackers, Ron Noonan and Brian Reynolds at halfbacks, and Dick Clasby at safety.
