Princeton Bumps Crimson JVs, 14-6

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Rain, mud, and a strong Princeton defense throttled a last period Crimson surge, and the JVs bowed, 14 to 6, to the Tiger junior varsity football team, at Soldiers Field Saturday.

Coach Norm Shepard's JVs splashed across with their only touchdown in the opening minute of the last quarter, when Irwin "Sonny" Templeton fell on the ball in the end-zone, anfter guard Tom Kahrl blocked a Tiger kick.

Although the Crimson remained in possession of the ball during most of the period, continuing rain aided the Princeton defense in preventing further scoring.

Tigers Score First

The visitors did all their scoring in the relatively dry first half. Fullback Bill McCandless fallied the opening touchdown on a 35-yard end run in the first period, and quarterback John Swinford carried the ball across for the extra point.

A one-yard tackle slaut by halfback Jim Hurlock capped Princeton's second touchdown drive, in the second period. Swinford again scored on the extra point on another quarterbacks sneak.
