Canadians O.K. With D.U. Coach

DENVER, Jan. 7--Hockey Coach Neil Colley of Denver University said today that a Harvard coach (Cooney Weiland's) objection to Canadian players on western college teams "is the same old criticism we hear every year."

"If they win, it's fine," Celley told a reporter. "If they lose, then they always have something to say about our Canadian boys.

"We don't discriminate at D.U. If a boy came here from Africa and could make the team, we'd use him. These Canadian players all are bonafide students and have to meet scholastic requirements."

Weiland had stated earlier at Cambridge that "they had better get western college hockey under control." He added that on teams like Denver and North Dakota, "the Canadians outnumber Americans three to one."

Of Denver's 17 players, 11 are from Canada, three from Minnesota, and one each from Massachusetts, Florida, and Colorado.
