The varsity fencing team opened its 1955 season Friday night with an 18-9 loss to Cornell. Featuring two eastern intercollegiate champions, Cornell won in all three weapons, sabre, opee, and sword, by a 6-3 score.
On Saturday the varsity defeated Trinity, 16-11. The Crimson took epee and sabro, 6-3, while Trinity won in foll, 5-4. Outstanding for the varsity were John Craig, Hubert Hocutt, Dave Kenney, Bill Pierskalla, Walt Rawis, Bob Scrivner, and Jim Standefer, each of whom won two of his three matches.
