Alumni to Row on Cambridge Crew

Two former Crimson caraman, Phil du Bois and Bob Monks, have earned seats on the Cambridge University crew for the race against Oxford, it was learned yesterday. They are the first two Americans ever to row in the same Cambridge crew.

Their selection brings to seven the number of Americans who have rowed under the Cantabridgian banner. The most recent was former Crimson stroke Lewis B. McCagg '52, who held a berth on the 1954 shell.

Monks, who graduated a year age, and du Bois, the 1953 varsity captain, were named to no. 6 and no. 2, respectively. Both won their positions after a series of elimination trials extending over December and January. Barring injuries, they will remain in these seats until the race on March 26.
